The Blackberry Storm`s touchscreen utilizes a SurePress glass screen designed to respond to haptic feedback from the user. The screen physically depresses into the phone when pressure is applied. The settings of the screen can be modulated to allow double-tapping to be used as an alternative for of navigation of the operating system. The Blackberry Storm has a 3.25 inch display which is touch sensitive and scratch resistant. The image has a 360x480 pixel resolution and is capable of displaying a massive 65,536 different colors. Thanks to the touchscreen, no stylus is needed. The Blackberry Storm CPU is built around a MSM7600 designed by Qualcomm along with a dual core CPU with ARM11 400 MHz and an additional ARM9 274 MHz. The Blackberry Storm`s virtual keyboard is locate don't he touch screen and is equipped with an accelerometer which enables the user to alternate between virtual SureType keyboard mode when the unit is set to portrait mode or a full QWERTY keyboard array when the Blackberry Storm is set to landscape mode. The phone is also equipped with an automatic spell check function and predicative text capabilities.
The Blackberry Storm also features a 3.2 megapixel camera which is situated on the back of the unit. The camera is equipped with flash and autofocus as well as video recording mode with a top resolution of 480x352 pixels. The Blackberry Storm memory device holds 1GB onboard and can be expanded with a separately sold microSD card which can be fitted into a special slot to add an extra 16 GB of memory. The Blackberry Storms distributed by Verizon come with a preinstalled 8GB microSD card. Blackberry unlocked models are obtainable as well. Unlocked Storms require additional work on the part of the user. Blackberry Storms come in a default SIM locked setting but can be unlocked to use other GSM networks.
